Requirements

  • High School Graduate with at least 2 years of clerical experience in a medical setting
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial Program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units.
  • Coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments.
  • Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.
  • Responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel.
  • Answering the telephone in a professional manner; directing calls to appropriate individuals and/or taking messages.
  • Keeping all necessary lists and schedules.
  • Maintaining office supplies.
  • Faxing and photocopying as needed.
  • Completing physician orders.
  • Assisting with admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Completing orders for the lab, radiology, etc.
  • Preparing documents for a transferred patient.
  • Coordinating specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Performing other duties as requested.
  • Participating in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings.
  • Demonstrating ability to use equipment relevant to the position.
