About The Position

Under general supervision, determines, assesses, and details the business functions and operating characteristics of the departments/divisions that utilize the medical center’s automated data facilities, databases and data network or that support and enhance health system practice, administrative and management needs and patient outcomes. Plans, develops, and prepares detailed specifications of applications systems to meet the requirements, missions, and goals of the medical center. Performs system implementation, testing, evaluation, and follow-through. Determines, diagnoses, isolates, and resolves applications resource and utilization problems and errors; develops fault diagnosis, isolation, and resolution techniques that ensure optimal performance is constantly maintained. Trains technical, support, and customer personnel in the use and development of applications programs; develops training programs and procedures.

Requirements

  • A college degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in information technology or health system area –or- equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrates effective two-way communication skills with customers and team members
  • Ability to solve problems and think logically to address challenges
  • Ability to work successfully within a team
  • Ability to manage tasks without direct supervision

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Allied Health
  • 2-4 years of experience in information technology (preferably experience in health system operations) and/or a health system area, preferably a combination of both health system and IT technology -or- experience with Epic Systems
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS and/or COC credentials.
  • EPIC Resolute Hospital Billing Charging or HIM Coding certification
  • Two years of hospital clinical coding experience; understanding and interpretation of medical records, hospital bills, and the charge master.
  • Knowledge of systems implementation which may include analysis, specification design, and implementation
  • Experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with hospital systems and business practices
  • Knowledge of healthcare technology trends
