The Health Sciences Tutor will provide individualized and small-group tutoring to health science students, demonstrating mastery of course content and assisting students in developing effective study strategies. The role involves reinforcing complex concepts through guided practice and review. Additionally, the tutor will develop and facilitate workshops in collaboration with health science faculty on topics such as study skills, assignment management, reading comprehension, time management, and student success strategies. The tutor will also work with faculty to design and deliver peer group sessions, adapting content to meet student needs. Collaboration with faculty is key to advancing student retention and success, and the tutor will partner in developing targeted workshops and peer-led learning sessions. The position requires participation in program initiatives to strengthen student engagement, persistence, and completion, as well as attending meetings and planning efforts with faculty and staff. Training and professional development are integral, including pre-service training for tutoring certification and ongoing development in tutoring, student success, and nursing education support. The tutor will also provide technology and academic skills support, assisting students with the Canvas Learning Management System, university systems, Microsoft Office, presentations, academic projects, and digital learning tools. Additional duties may include skills lab assistance, basic office tasks, program upkeep, and maintaining organized learning spaces. The role also involves outreach and engagement activities, promoting tutoring services, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment.
