Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline, and/or a combination of relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to meet the key responsibilities of the role.
  • COR Internal Auditor certification is a requirement
  • Demonstrated experience supporting, managing, or auditing a COR-certified program
  • Proven ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into practical, field-ready policies and procedures.
  • Confident communicator who is comfortable engaging with field crews, supervisors, and leadership — and who is willing to speak up to protect the health and safety of employees.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with the ability to review inspections, reports, and trends to identify risks and drive corrective action.
  • Proactive mindset with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of safety systems, policies, and culture.
  • Ability to balance compliance, operational realities, and positive employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of our COR program and support ongoing audit readiness
  • Analyze inspection results, statistical reports, and corrective actions to identify meaningful improvements
  • Work with Managers and the Joint Health & Safety Committee to influence positive changes
  • Lead safety meetings, support training initiatives, and connect directly with new hires during orientation
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and implement proactive solutions
  • Manage return-to-work programs with care, diligence, and professionalism
  • Support policy development and organization-wide compliance initiatives
