About The Position

The Health Record Technician assists in coordinating the agency clinical management system. This employee is responsible for categorizing and scanning records into the record storage system, including the closed record system and retention/disposition system. This employee will assist with identifying and tracking closed records.

  • 1 year of experience working with computers, including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and email.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, categorizes and scans closed records using a set naming convention into the database
  • Utilizes the microfiche machine to identify and categorize clients’ records stored on microfiche. This position will log the identified records using a set naming convention for all records found on microfiche
  • Accepts any additional documentation sent to the record room by identifying and logging these records using a set naming convention in a logbook before shelving them into the Records Room.
  • Once a closed record is scanned into the database, this position identifies a space for paper copies to be destroyed and coordinate with the Compliance Team around the destruction of records
  • Supports the Compliance team with tracking and maintaining closed records
  • Maintains an awareness of the record management policies and procedures related to closed record system, retention and disposition system and release of information
  • Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies pertaining to HIPAA, false claims, whistleblower policies and all other
  • Performs all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor
