About The Position

The Health Program Officer will serve as a key player in a dynamic team tasked with building a robust pipeline to strengthen Louisiana's health workforce. This role supports the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of LSU Health Affairs initiatives focused on health workforce development, health careers awareness, educational outreach, and strategic partnerships. The position serves as the lead for health career exposures, workforce pipeline initiatives, educational events, and community engagement activities to fulfill the grant-supported projects conducted in collaboration with LSU campuses, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), healthcare providers, school systems, workforce organizations, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, healthcare administration, public policy or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate health workforce development initiatives designed to increase awareness of clinical, public health, behavioral health, and healthcare administration careers.
  • Support implementation of LSU Health Affairs workforce pipeline strategies and educational outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities that promote healthcare career awareness among K-12 students, college students, and community audiences.
  • Monitor program activities, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison among LSU campuses, LDH, healthcare organizations, school systems, workforce agencies, and community partners.
  • Coordinate meetings, communications, and collaborative activities supporting workforce and education initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to expand program participation and impact.
  • Support development of new partnerships that advance LSU Health Affairs priorities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage health careers fairs, health educational workshops, community outreach events, and related initiatives.
  • Lead event logistics, scheduling, communications, and participant engagement. Ensure events align with strategic workforce and educational goals.
  • Represent LSU Health Affairs at conferences, meetings, and community events.
  • Support implementation of grant-funded workforce and educational initiatives.
  • Track health career and related health education project deliverables, timelines, performance measures, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities across multiple stakeholders and participating organizations.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, summaries, presentations, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate development and/or coordination of career pathway resources, informational materials, outreach tools, and educational content.
  • Support dissemination of workforce information and opportunities through multiple communication channels.
  • Collect and maintain program participation information.
  • Support program effectiveness and workforce development outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve program operations, stakeholder engagement, and participant experiences.
  • Prepare program summaries and recommendations for leadership review.
  • Other duties as assigned
