The position may be in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate. This position requires that the selected candidate be a Registered Dietitian. The WIC Program Manager role offers an experienced public health nutrition professional the opportunity to lead and strengthen WIC services across Alaska. In this role, you will lead regional WIC staff, coordinate outreach through Public Health Centers, and work closely with local teams, grantees, and vendors to ensure women, infants, and children receive high-quality nutrition services, education, supplemental foods, and healthcare referrals. You will have the opportunity to shape regional program operations, build strong community partnerships, and support culturally responsive and equitable services for families throughout Alaska. As part of Alaska’s statewide WIC program, you will combine your leadership and public health expertise to support program compliance while making a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of Alaska’s families. The Division of Public Health is the state's lead public health agency focused on the services that protect the public's health and advance the health status of all Alaskans and communities by preventing illness and injury. WIC is a public health program that provides nutrition and breastfeeding education, counseling, support, referrals to needed services, and nutritious food to eligible women, infants, and children up to age five. Requirements

Must be a Registered Dietitian
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field
Progressively responsible professional supervisory or lead level experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care service
Competencies in Program Planning: Ensures state/Tribal/community health improvement planning uses community health assessments and other information related to the health of a community (e.g., current data and trends; proposed federal, state, and local legislation; commitments from organizations to act). Develops program goals and objectives.
Competencies in Community Dimensions of Practice: Distinguishes the roles and responsibilities of governmental and non-governmental organizations in providing programs and services to improve the health of a community.
Competencies in Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
Competencies in Public Health: Applies knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing, and responding to infectious diseases.
Competencies in Human Capital Management: Builds and manages workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs. Ensures that employees are appropriately recruited, selected, appraised, and rewarded; takes action to address performance problems. Manages a multi-sector workforce and a variety of work situations.
Competencies in Leadership: Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.

Must be an Alaskan Resident
