About The Position

Under direction, Health Program Coordinators supervise, assign, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for contracted and/or county operated health programs and services, including but not limited to staff supervision, program development and implementation, program monitoring and evaluation, and coordination of services; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and perform technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of full-time professional paid journey-level experience in a relevant health field, which has included program coordination, or lead, or supervision of program staff or operations.
  • Completion of coursework in health care administration, a public health field, a health science, nursing or any nursing specialty, or in a related health field such as life sciences or physical sciences, or in a management field such as public administration or business administration or other field closely related to the intent of the class at an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.
  • Related education substitutions for the required experience are computed on the basis of 3 semester units or 4.5 quarter units = 1 work month.
  • The word "experience" referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable.
  • Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
  • If the minimum qualifications include an educational or certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirements with the application.
  • Some positions may require a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, or licensure based on their assignment.
  • The incumbent of the position designated as the Director of Public Health Education must hold a Master’s degree with specialization in public or community health education and must meet any other state requirements for a director of health education.
  • Some positions in these classes who oversee Behavioral Health Services may be required to, in accordance with applicable federal and/or state regulations, possess and maintain a current valid LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy); or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
  • Criminal History and Background Checks: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies, and applicable federal and state laws.
  • The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate’s ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist.
  • For purposes of accessing criminal history information, the candidate will be fingerprinted.
  • A subsequent arrest notification may be obtained.
  • The County may also conduct a background check on the candidate prior to appointment to a position within this class.
  • The background check may include personal and professional reference checks, credit history checks where authorized by Labor Code section 1024.5, Social Security Number verification, professional license/registration verification, military service information and driving history.
  • Information obtained in the course of this background check will be considered by the appointing authority in the selection process.
  • In obtaining such information, the County will comply with applicable consent and disclosure practices in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the California Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act.
