About The Position

The Transfer Prep program is a key University of California (UC) outreach initiative that strengthens California’s community college transfer pipeline. The program provides admissions advising, academic enrichment, mentorship, and college and career readiness opportunities that support transition from high school, success in community college, and successful transfer to UCs and other four-year institutions. The program equips students with the academic, social, and financial knowledge needed to navigate transfer pathways and achieve degree attainment. At UCSF, the Transfer Prep program expands opportunities for community college students to transfer to four-year institutions by providing comprehensive advising, transfer planning support, and exposure to academic and career pathways, including health sciences and STEM fields. Additionally, the program supports high school students exploring community college transfer as a pathway to a bachelor’s degree. The Transfer Prep Coordinator designs, coordinates, and implements services at assigned school sites and partner institutions, ensuring activities are responsive to student needs, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with program objectives and transfer outcomes. The Coordinator provides individualized guidance on transfer planning, academic preparation, financial aid, and postsecondary decision-making while helping students and families navigate complex higher education systems. This role requires knowledge of California community colleges and university transfer pathways, barriers that may impact transfer access and persistence, and strategies that promote transfer student success. The Coordinator cultivates partnerships with schools, colleges/universities, and community organizations to strengthen program visibility, expand transfer awareness, and support successful transitions to higher education. As experienced college-preparation professionals, they monitor student progress, design program curricula, and contribute to continuous program improvement.
