About The Position

The Health Lodge Assistant supports daily Health Lodge operations, provides overnight supervision, assists with medical documentation, and may distribute over-the-counter medications under standing orders. As a mentor and role model at Cub Creek Science Camp, you'll gain hands-on experience, build your resume, and connect with a global community of staff and campers who share your passion for animals and nature. With 300+ animals and 100+ activities, our unique take on the traditional sleep-away camp is a place where you can inspire kids, help them build self-confidence, and make lifelong friends. Requirements

  • Completed at least 1 year of college education, with specialization in nursing, pre-med major, or health sciences preferred.
  • Hold First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Follow medical instructions precisely.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with campers and staff.
  • Possess experience in health care or youth services (preferred).
  • Demonstrate a desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions in a constructive manner.
  • Work self-sufficiently on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, giving and receiving direction from others.
  • Adhere to the camp's code of conduct, rules, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the distribution of all scheduled daily and evening medications to campers.
  • Supervise campers resting in the Health Lodge.
  • Provide comfort care and observe for changes in condition.
  • Accurately document all Health Lodge visits and outcomes.
  • Distribute over-the-counter medications only under standing orders when clearance is verified.
  • Communicate all concerns to the Nurse or Health Coordinator.
  • Serve as overnight “ears” in the Health Lodge for emergency awareness.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training.
  • Follow all camp policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of campers.
