About The Position

Terros Health is seeking a Health Information Specialist for its Central Avenue location. This role reports to the Director of Informatics and requires a flexible, compassionate, and professional individual. The Health Information Specialist will manage clients' medical records from enrollment to closure, contributing to a continuous quality improvement process by educating staff on Corporate Compliance Standards. Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Interpersonal skills which allow for professional and positive relationships with co-workers.
  • Good communication skills, evidenced by a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, and positive interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment/department, flexible, adapting readily to changes and transitions.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, electronic medical record.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 7 working days of assuming role.
  • Must pass background check, TB test and other pre-employment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • AA or bachelor’s degree.
  • NextGen experience or NCP certification.
  • Experience in behavioral health and medical records/HIM department setting.
  • Additional languages.

Responsibilities

  • Performing functions related to the clients’ medical records from enrollment to closure.
  • Providing a continuous quality improvement process to educate staff on adherence of Corporate Compliance Standards.
  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
  • Answering department phone lines, voicemails, and emails to assist patients, requesters, and other departments.
  • Updating and using relevant knowledge, keeping up to date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Interacting with computers, specifically the Electronic Medical Record, to set up functions, enter data or process information.
  • Managing special projects and process improvement as assigned.
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with co-workers.
