About The Position

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for multiple Health Care Technicians II to work in the Admissions Office. This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled health care activities for mentally ill patients with physical as well as behavioral problems. As a clinical worker, this employee carries out the admitting process and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Health Care Technician II is responsible for data entry and documentation in the patient medical record as well as utilizing both in-person and telephone interactions with patients, families, law enforcement, and external agencies while carrying out assigned duties. The Health Care Technician II requires knowledge of legal processes pertaining to voluntary and involuntary admissions. This individual must be able to communicate accurate information in a professional manner with all internal and external customers and work independently as a member of a team.

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development Diploma
  • one (1) year of related work experience
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Current NC certification as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II.
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a Psychiatric, IDD, Substance Abuse, or Neuro-Medical facility.
  • Experience working in a hospital admissions office and/or assisting with patient admissions.
