About The Position

The Health Care Technician II serves as a role model and mentor to other HCT I's throughout the facility and provides quality care to patients on the unit, 2 Pine. As an essential member of a multidisciplinary care team, the HCT II practices therapeutic principles when providing care to the patients they serve. A typical day on the AAU consists of interacting with teammates and patients. Patients begin their day being encouraged and mentored by teammates. Teammates provide structured skill building activities and interaction in various settings throughout the day. Patients attend off-unit programming at the Hope and Wellness Center. Patients have scheduled access to time in the court yards with various activities, gymnasium with basketball court, library, and various other activities. The HCT II works closely with the Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Manager to train and orient new HCT I’s team members, facilitate professional communication and provide feedback to improve processes and quality care. The HCT II acts as a role model and builds therapeutic and meaningful relationships between teammates and patients to facilitate patient success. This is a first shift position (7 am until 3:30 pm).

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
  • Must successfully pass all required parts of CPI’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention as a condition for continued employment.

  • Nurse Aide I listing by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotions and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
