About The Position

The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is an inpatient unit serving individuals from the ages of 18 and up. The objective of the PICU is to provide a safe and structured environment for patients needing a higher level of psychiatric nursing intervention and intervention. This position typically works Monday – Friday 8am-5pm however, may be assigned to other shifts as needed to meet the needs of the unit.

Requirements

  • Registered as a Nurse Aide by the State of North Carolina.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must already have certification as a Nurse Aide I and be listed on the Division of Health Service Regulation Registry.
  • Must successfully pass all required parts of CPI’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Must Report or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
  • To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible.
  • The employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date if they have held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months.
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency.
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
  • All Sign-on Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
  • Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks.
  • All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered as a Nurse Aide by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Ability to transfer written information accurately to various forms.
  • Knowledge of general office skills such as filing and telephone etiquette.
  • General knowledge of computer skills/proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • assist the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) to ensure sufficient documents are available, and also with accurate unit record keeping

  • assist the CNM to follow up with staff for compliance with required Cherry Hospital training
