Health Care Assistant - Madison Hospital Acute Surgical Care 4th FL - FT - 1st Shift
About The Position
Under the direction of physicians and clinical staff, the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and other support related to patients on the nursing unit. The role also assists staff, physicians, visitors, and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed. Patient care activities include taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, transporting and transferring patients, and assisting with discharges. Clerical responsibilities include directing incoming calls, responding to patient calls, entering patient charges into the computer system, maintaining patient charts and unit files, keeping secretarial supplies stocked, and helping maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous patient care experience and/or two years of clerical experience with a successful work history required.
- Comparable combinations of education and experience in clerical positions and patient care aide positions will be considered.
- BCLS certification required by the conclusion of orientation.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
