About The Position

Requirements
- CNESST certification is required
- Occupational health and safety course for construction sites (ASP Construction)
- Hands-on experience in heavy civil construction in a field environment
- Demonstrates competency in Safety Management Systems and safety-based behaviour as part of safety culture
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to effectively engage craft, supervise, and manage
- Proven self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude
- Autonomous and resourceful
- Mobile and adaptable
- Valid driver’s license
- Availability to work night shifts
Nice To Haves
- Experience and/or certification with the following: Traffic & Mobility codes, Ice Water Rescue, open water, barging, training in fall protection, cranes and rigging is preferred
Responsibilities
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safe execution of construction activities through safe work planning, rescue plans, inspections, and audits
- Provide incident response and investigation to determine root cause and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with legislation, site policies, and standard operating procedures
- Establish a Job Hazard Analysis in addition to other workplace safety measures such as emergency response plans, fall protection, traffic control, and work permits
- Participates in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, pre-activity meetings, incident reviews, and emergency response exercises
- Contributes to the creation of standards, processes, and practices
- Inspect project work areas and recommend corrective action
- Intervene and investigate incidents occurring on-site and document them
- Provide in-field coaching and training to personnel
- Mediate health and safety issues to resolution
- Promote a safe and inclusive culture
- Collaborate with the superintendent in the event of disciplinary action
- Complete daily reports and relevant sub-files (e.g., daily interventions, number of workers, accidents, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
