About The Position

Firme Brouillette Inc. is seeking a Health and Safety (H&S) Consultant for a permanent position in Northern Quebec. In a context of growth, the H&S consultant acts as an advisor to managers to ensure compliance with H&S laws and regulations. They actively participate in risk prevention, continuous improvement of H&S practices, and the development of a prevention culture within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field.
  • OR University certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • OR Any combination of training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of the LSST, LATMP, and associated regulations.
  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French.
  • Valid driver's license (Class 5).
  • Travel to Northern Quebec is expected.
  • Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or valid open work permit.

Responsibilities

  • Advise managers on the application of H&S policies and programs.
  • Inform employees and managers of their rights, responsibilities, and obligations.
  • Identify and analyze risks related to different business sectors.
  • Develop, update, and ensure the application of prevention programs.
  • Review H&S policies and procedures.
  • Draft and implement various programs (lockout, working at heights, confined spaces, etc.).
  • Promote a culture of prevention and health and safety.
  • Participate in the implementation of new equipment, ensuring compliance with H&S requirements.
  • Collaborate in the designation of H&S representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, particularly the LSST, LATMP, and their regulations.
  • Create, coordinate, and lead health and safety committees (CSS).
  • Act as an advisor during meetings.
  • Prepare agendas and draft minutes.
  • Participate in the selection of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Present accident investigations and recommend corrective measures.
  • Follow up on CSS action plans.
  • Organize awareness, mobilization, and recognition activities.
  • Follow up on temporary and permanent corrective measures.
  • Review first aid and accident reporting forms.
  • Lead investigations following incidents and workplace accidents.
  • Travel to sites when required.
  • Complete investigation and analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with human resources during H&S disciplinary actions.
  • Follow up on CNESST files.
  • Represent the employer before administrative bodies, if necessary.
  • Maintain relationships with various external stakeholders.
  • Research and coordinate specialized firm services.
  • Draft various confidential correspondence.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

  • Regional disparity premium: $4,320 to $5,747
  • Vacation: 15 days (1-3 years of service), increasing with seniority
