About The Position

Sodexo has an exciting new opportunity to join our team as a Health and Safety Advisor in a corporate office environment. This position is located at a corporate client site in Kirkland, Quebec. This position reports directly to the Area General Manager and the Director of Health, Safety and Environment and is responsible for managing the unit’s safety program while providing on-site safety support. You will help foster a strong safety culture, develop and deploy programs, and train employees. Sodexo provides Facilities Management services for the client. Our clients rely on your expertise to help optimize their operations. Requirements

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is mandatory (written and oral) as this site is part of an international strategic account for Sodexo
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels: understand business needs and Health and Safety requirements
  • Ability to manage expectations and priorities
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating and/or managing a safety program for a medium to large employer
  • In-depth knowledge of Quebec health and safety regulations and legislation
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and engage with senior executives. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong proven problem-solving, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and effectively multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle for business purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Health and Safety or a related field preferred, safety certifications will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety improvements for project work that align with the overall strategy to strengthen the safety culture.
  • Act as a liaison between vendor and contractor managers and the client’s Health and Safety leadership team.
  • Review vendor Health and Safety programs using risk management tools.
  • Organize schedules based on project work requirements.
  • Coordinate worksite inspections with construction leaders.
  • Attend daily meetings with client Health and Safety representatives as required.
  • Provide training to key employees on site requirements and documentation.
  • Compile metrics for monthly reporting.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and manage corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Participate in annual client Health and Safety audits, including implementation and closure of audit findings.
  • Attend weekly meetings and provide Health and Safety updates as required.
  • Support the management of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), including developing and implementing improvement and corrective action plans.
  • Provide analysis and assist in coordinating activities necessary to ensure successful internal and external audits, as well as management reviews.
  • Provide safety management and incident prevention support to high-risk Sodexo units. Investigate serious incidents using root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Achieve assigned objectives related to employee injury frequency, serious injury rates, and other Health and Safety targets.
  • Monitor trends in incident causes and injury types, facilitate corrective actions, and communicate Health and Safety information to key stakeholders.
  • Deliver internal safety training, guidance, and support (e.g., coaching, direction, serving as a resource, and focusing on incident prevention) during inspections, investigations, incidents, or complaints.
  • Measure the effectiveness of safety strategies and programs using objective, data-driven methods.
  • Organize and coordinate the client’s safety program.
  • Organize and coordinate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance on site.
  • Present safety updates during internal meetings and client meetings.
