About The Position

Coker University invites applications for the position of Head Wrestling Coach. This is a full-time, 12-month position responsible for leading and managing all aspects of a successful NCAA Division II wrestling program. The Head Wrestling Coach will provide leadership, organization, and strategic direction for all phases of the wrestling program. The successful candidate will foster a culture of competitive excellence, academic achievement, community engagement, and personal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Previous successful collegiate coaching experience required
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and player development
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Commitment to compliance and integrity within NCAA Division II rules
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • head coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the wrestling program
  • Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes who align with the University's mission
  • Develop and implement effective practice plans, game strategies, and player development programs
  • Monitor academic progress and promote student-athlete success and retention
  • Manage program budget, scheduling, travel, and equipment
  • Hire, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
  • Engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach initiatives
  • Promote a positive team culture emphasizing accountability, discipline, and sportsmanship
