About The Position

The Head of Video Analysis is responsible for the development and leadership of a centralized team of analysts that provides service to Canada Soccer’s national teams using a consistent methodology for tactical and statistical analysis. The Head of Video Analysis is also the lead analyst practitioner themselves, providing their individual support to mainly senior national teams but also youth national teams according to a schedule of priority, as determined by the Sporting Director. The Head of Video Analysis is also responsible for providing educational content to coach education, and for internal management of software and technology licenses.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working as a video analyst and/or managing analysts within professional and/or international soccer environments.
  • Experience using video and tactical analysis platforms (e.g., Hudl, Wyscout), including telestration and presentation of analysis to players and technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels—including peers, players, coaches, and external partners—and to build positive, collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally and to work flexible hours outside standard business schedules; expect approximately 90–100 travel days per year, with increased travel during senior final tournament years (e.g., World Cups and/or Olympic competitions).
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional or international coaching experience and advanced coaching licenses are considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred; additional languages considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating a ‘Canada Soccer video analyst methodology’ for all national teams in collaboration with Sporting Director, and senior national team coaches.
  • Monitor the performance of analysts and gather feedback from coaches about the performance of analysts.
  • Ensure that quality and quantity of video analysis support is provided for all national teams at the highest standard possible.
  • Work as an analyst in support of senior and youth national teams according to a schedule of priority that is established by the Sporting Director.
  • Oversee the management and assignment of Canada Soccer’s different software licenses among national teams.
  • Manage the inventory of analysis equipment in collaboration with the operations team. Ensure that equipment is organized and ready to use for analysts joining camps.
  • Build and maintain a library (Coaches Curriculum) of analysis that can be shared with all national teams and coaches.
  • Develop and deliver educational content focused on video analysis in collaboration with Canada Soccer Coach Education, supporting coach education modules and dedicated video analyst education pathways.
  • Design and lead seminars, workshops, and webinars for coaches and analysts in partnership with Canada Soccer Coach Education.
  • Collaborate, as directed, with professional clubs, coaches, coach educators, and external organizations to advance the quality and consistency of video analysis across the Canadian soccer landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with all Canada Soccer policies and guidelines, including those related to integrity and Safe Sport.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Canada Soccer’s analysis practices by identifying emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in performance and video analysis.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned by the Technical Leadership, Canada Soccer administration, or senior national team coaches.
