About The Position

Simple Mining is seeking a Head of Strategic Finance to lead the capital strategy for its AI data center platform. The company is expanding from its operating Bitcoin mining and energy infrastructure business into turnkey AI data centers, drawing on its experience with power, land, and physical operations. The role owns financing strategy and execution for data center projects, including designing capital stacks, building financial models and investor materials, managing fundraising processes, negotiating terms, and closing transactions. It also develops relationships with lenders and investors and works with business development on customer lease economics to support financeable projects. The role oversees accounting and reporting across Simple Mining and the data center business in partnership with the Head of Finance, prepares the business for institutional capital, and partners on the employee equity plan and valuation as the data center business moves into its own parent company. During the first 90 days, the successful candidate is expected to meet founders and existing capital contacts, present a financing plan and timeline to leadership, advance the first raise, and provide the board with a clear path to funding the first data center. The position is described as a founding CFO opportunity for the data center platform, with meaningful equity and competitive incentives. It is remote, with New York City preferred, and is full-time.

Requirements

Personally led and closed capital raises for capital-intensive infrastructure such as data centers, power, utilities, energy, or digital infrastructure.
A network of lenders, investors, and LPs with whom the candidate can engage directly.
Fluency in project finance, debt structuring, and investor materials, with the ability to explain a capital stack clearly.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Director or Managing Director in investment banking, an infrastructure investor, or a finance leader at a developer.
Prior CFO experience.
MBA, CFA, or CPA.

Responsibilities

Design the capital stack for each data center, including construction and project debt, equity, joint ventures, and LP structures.
Lead capital raises end to end by building financial models, narratives, and materials; managing processes with banks, private credit, infrastructure funds, and strategic investors; negotiating terms; and closing transactions.
Build and maintain relationships with lenders and investors to support current and future financing.
Work with the business development team on lease structures with neocloud and AI customers so projects are financeable.
Oversee accounting and reporting across Simple Mining and the data center business in partnership with the Head of Finance, and prepare the business for institutional capital.
Partner on the employee equity plan and the valuation story as the data center business moves into its own parent company.
Meet founders, learn the sites and financials, assess existing capital relationships, present a financing plan and timeline to leadership, and drive the first raise forward during the first 90 days.
