About The Position

The Head of Finance will build the company’s finance function and work directly with leadership on major business decisions. The role takes over finance work previously handled by leaders in other teams and an outsourced accounting partner, and develops the processes and systems needed for the company’s next stage of growth. This is a hands-on builder role that combines operational execution with designing scalable finance systems.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in finance, with a strong background in FP&A or strategic finance.
  • Experience partnering with B2B SaaS sales teams, including modeling sales capacity and compensation plans, building bookings and pipeline forecasts, and addressing quota, commission, and deal-desk questions.
  • Fluency in SaaS metrics such as ARR, NRR, CAC payback, gross margin, and burn multiple, and judgment about which metrics are relevant in different situations.
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606 and month-end close sufficient to hold an outsourced accounting team to a high standard.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern startup finance stack and implementation of billing tools.
  • Ability to build models, clean up data, and fix processes hands-on without needing a team to get started.
  • Clear communication with non-finance leaders and ability to push back using data.

Nice To Haves

  • Startup experience, ideally at a Series A to C company.
  • Fundraising or board reporting experience.
  • Experience with tools such as QuickBooks, Ramp, or Carta.

Responsibilities

  • Own the company operating model, including burn, operating expense and headcount forecasting, budgeting, and runway analysis.
  • Partner with the Head of RevOps to connect the bookings and ARR forecast to a single company model.
  • Run the monthly business review and own the financial sections of board materials.
  • Build financial models, metrics, reporting, and diligence readiness ahead of the next fundraising round.
  • Advise on hiring plans, sales compensation, marketing budgets, and fundraising strategy.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to help them make informed business tradeoffs.
  • Automate and scale billing and invoicing processes.
  • Select and implement financial tools, including completing an in-flight billing system integration.
  • Ensure contracted ARR matches amounts billed and collected each month by addressing invoicing delays, approval bottlenecks, and unbilled accounts.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the outsourced accounting partner and improve month-end close and revenue recognition.
  • Develop a plan for bringing accounting in-house and determine when to do so.
  • Manage commissions with the Head of RevOps, including shared processes, calculations, and controls.
  • Build referral and partner fee tracking processes.
  • Own gross margin and identify the factors that drive costs to serve customers and opportunities to improve margin.
  • Manage spend and vendor contracts, and create company-wide expense oversight.
