Head of Finance

Rangeview Inc.•El Segundo, CA
•$250,000 - $300,000•Onsite

About The Position

As the Head of Finance, you will be Rangeview's first finance hire and the architect of how the company funds itself. Foundries are capital intensive, and the winning move is not to fund them with venture equity. Your central mandate is to bring in cheap capital to build factories against long-term production contracts, and to build the finance function that lenders, customers, and government capital offices will trust with those dollars. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at both the strategic and tactical levels. You will personally run the model, the board materials, and the debt processes on day one, and you will hire the controller and financial analyst who take the operating work off your plate as the function scales. You will work directly with the CEO, the board, lenders, customers, and government capital programs, including the Department of Defense Office of Strategic Capital, to structure the financing behind each factory. You will ultimately own the "how" behind Rangeview's ability to build production capacity faster and cheaper than the incumbents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a quantitative discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment banking at a bulge-bracket or top-tier boutique, with a focus on industrials, aerospace and defense, leveraged finance, or M&A.
  • 3+ years of experience in private credit, direct lending, structured credit, or project finance, including originating, underwriting, and closing transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a financing from term sheet to close, including negotiating structure, covenants, and documentation.
  • Expert financial modeling skills, including project-level and corporate models with debt sizing, covenant testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Strong understanding of how lenders underwrite manufacturing assets and contract-backed cash flows.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to build and oversee an accounting function you have not previously run.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex financial information to executive leadership, boards, lenders, government officials, and cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of sustained high output in demanding environments, and the appetite to keep that pace at a company that is building factories.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving systems, processes, and organizational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Department of Defense Office of Strategic Capital, Defense Production Act Title III, Department of Energy Loan Programs Office, EXIM, SBA, or similar government capital programs.
  • Experience financing manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or other hard-asset projects against offtake or production contracts.
  • Experience with equipment financing, sale-leaseback, and asset-based lending structures.
  • Experience at a venture-backed company, or leading a financing process on the company side of the table.
  • Knowledge of government contract accounting, FAR and DFARS cost principles, and CAS.
  • Experience selecting, implementing, or scaling ERP, accounting, and FP&A platforms.
  • Experience hiring and managing accounting and finance staff.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or industrial supply chains and customers.
  • CFA, CPA, or MBA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the leader accountable for the Finance organization and the primary point of ownership for capital strategy, financial planning, accounting, and financial controls.
  • Structure and close non-dilutive and low-cost capital for factory buildouts, including project finance, asset-based and equipment financing, contract-backed facilities, and government loan and loan-guarantee programs.
  • Lead Rangeview's engagement with the Department of Defense Office of Strategic Capital and related federal, state, and local capital programs, and build the financial credibility those offices require.
  • Convert customer production contracts into bankable collateral by working with business development and legal on contract structure, take-or-pay terms, milestone schedules, and offtake commitments.
  • Build and maintain lender and capital-provider relationships across private credit, banks, export credit agencies, equipment lessors, and strategic investors.
  • Own the company's financial model, capital plan, and cash forecast, and keep them accurate enough to make factory-level capital decisions against.
  • Recruit, hire, and manage a controller and a financial analyst, and establish the organizational structure to support multi-site manufacturing.
  • Stand up the accounting function, monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls, and prepare the company for its first audit.
  • Develop and justify departmental budgets, headcount plans, and capital-expenditure proposals across the company in partnership with engineering, operations, and supply chain.
  • Manage board and investor reporting, covenant compliance, and lender reporting.
  • Lead pricing, contract economics, and margin analysis for production programs, and give the executive team objective findings to make cross-functional decisions.
  • Select and implement the finance and accounting systems required to scale across sites and entities.
