About The Position

Fulcrum is an AI platform for insurance brokers, aiming to transform the $1.5 trillion insurance industry which still relies heavily on traditional methods like spreadsheets and email. The company is post-Series A, has achieved significant ARR growth, and is trusted by a substantial portion of the top brokers in the country. Requirements

  • 8+ years of finance experience, with a mix of accounting, FP&A, and investor-facing work.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and establish functions, not just operate existing ones.
  • Proven experience in hiring and developing finance talent.
  • Strong command of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, financial modeling, and board-level reporting.
  • Fluency in SaaS metrics and the ability to build reporting infrastructure around them.
  • Experience supporting or running a fundraise (Series A and beyond), including working with outside counsel.
  • Comfort with owning tax, compliance, payroll, and equity administration, and knowing when to engage external expertise.
  • An independent mindset with the ability to form views from first principles and take initiative.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex financials into clear narratives.
  • Ability to work 5 days a week from the San Francisco office (relocation considered).

Responsibilities

  • Own the investor relationship end-to-end, including board materials, quarterly updates, cap table hygiene, and 409A valuations.
  • Lead financial preparation for future fundraising rounds, including data room management, diligence, financial narrative development, and coordination with outside counsel.
  • Build and own financial models, forecasts, and budgets, with a strong understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV).
  • Manage cash flow, burn rate tracking, and provide insights for capital allocation and headcount planning.
  • Establish accounting processes, controls, and systems, including monthly/quarterly close, financial statements, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and audit readiness.
  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax obligations, including sales tax nexus and R&D tax credits.
  • Manage payroll, benefits administration, accounts payable, vendor relationships, and banking operations.
  • Hire and develop the finance team as the company scales, defining the standards for finance talent at Fulcrum.
