About The Position

Mercury is seeking a Head of Social & Community to shape how the company presents itself and strengthen relationships with founders, entrepreneurs, and businesses. The role leads social, community, creators and influencers, and merch, connecting these channels into an integrated function that builds brand participation, engagement, and affinity. The role offers the opportunity to develop distinctive campaigns, partnerships, experiences, and ideas, and to grow an engaged customer community in fintech. The Head of Social & Community sets strategy, guides Mercury’s voice and creative quality, develops programs that encourage participation and advocacy, and connects community work with the broader marketing organization. The role owns goals, budgets, measurement, and operating rhythms while balancing creative ambition with analytical rigor.

Requirements

  • Experience leading a team and a meaningful budget across social, merch, creator or influencer partnerships, or related brand and community disciplines.
  • Exceptional creative and editorial taste, including the ability to write a strong post, assess concepts, provide incisive creative feedback, and maintain a high bar without becoming a bottleneck.
  • A systems mindset and ability to connect channels and individual moments to a larger story, building programs that compound into brand equity.
  • Strong cross-functional instincts and ability to connect teams, bring together different priorities, and keep customers and community central.
  • Curiosity about culture and the internet, a bias toward ideas that break through, and willingness to challenge standard approaches with unexpected concepts, formats, and partnerships.
  • Strong people leadership and ability to move between strategic thinking and detailed execution.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy for social and community, connecting social, creators and influencers, and merch into a cohesive ecosystem that grows the audience, deepens engagement, and builds long-term brand affinity.
  • Shape and amplify Mercury’s voice across channels, setting a high bar for ideas, writing, creative, and experiences.
  • Develop campaigns and programs that encourage people to talk about, participate in, and advocate for Mercury, including social concepts, creator partnerships, and merch.
  • Connect community work to the broader marketing organization and partner with Brand, Creative, Growth, Product Marketing, Support, and other teams.
  • Translate company priorities into broader ideas and bring insights from the community back into Mercury.
  • Own goals, budgets, measurement, and operating rhythms for the function, using analysis to understand performance and investment priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of three, create clarity across areas of work, and grow the organization as its ambitions expand.
