This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the VP of Product. The Head of Product will develop people while remaining close to customers, prototypes, product decisions, and shipped quality. The role involves partnering across product, engineering, design, data, research, and company leadership to build clear, useful, high-quality financial experiences.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct product management experience, including 5+ years leading product managers through hiring, coaching, organizational design, and performance management.
  • A track record of shipping products customers value, with a clear account of personal decisions and contributions.
  • Experience leading PMs and working across multiple teams or a broad product area.
  • Excellent product judgment and a strong sense of design quality, simplicity, and customer experience.
  • Substantial practical experience with AI products, including the ability to discuss what was built, how it was evaluated, where it failed, and what changed as a result.
  • Ability to turn ambiguity into clear direction and a sequence of useful releases.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to work with engineers on complex product and platform decisions.
  • Experience aligning teams around shared capabilities while responding to their different needs.
  • Clear communication and confidence in making recommendations, explaining tradeoffs, and challenging assumptions.
  • Habit of using customer conversations and product evidence to improve decisions.
  • Willingness to own the full outcome, including work outside a narrow product remit.
  • High standards for personal work and a thoughtful, direct approach to helping others improve.

Responsibilities

  • Set product direction for Interfaces and connect Dashboard, Mobile, Command, and API/MCP through a clear understanding of customer needs and each surface’s role.
  • Lead and develop the PM team by establishing ownership, coaching product judgment, hiring, and helping the team deliver excellent work.
  • Shape Mercury’s AI experience in partnership with the Command team, turning new AI capabilities into useful products that help customers complete financial work.
  • Improve the core product experience so customers can understand their finances, find the right action, and move between devices and workflows more easily.
  • Build shared capabilities such as navigation, tasks, notifications, and agent interactions.
  • Make quality part of product development by working with engineering, design, data, and research partners to evaluate product behavior, understand failures, and improve through evidence.
  • Design for customer control by making consequential actions understandable, permissions clear, and progress and results easy to inspect.
  • Connect Mercury’s product portfolio by partnering with teams building banking, Spend, Books, Payroll, and other products to bring their capabilities into shared experiences.
  • Balance immediate customer needs, new opportunities, and platform investments.
