About The Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Payments to lead and optimise its global payments infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing payment operations, managing PSP and acquiring relationships, expanding payment capabilities, and ensuring seamless payment experiences across international markets. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with operational execution, working closely with Product, Technology, Finance, Compliance, and Customer Support teams to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective payment solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the payments industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or ownership role.
  • Strong experience managing PSPs, acquirers, and payment providers.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of payment processing, card acquiring, and transaction flows.
  • Experience with cryptocurrency payment rails, wallets, and stablecoin settlement.
  • Proven experience expanding payment coverage across multiple international markets.
  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyse payment KPIs, approval rates, conversion, disputes, and processing costs.
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience within iGaming or another high-risk merchant environment.
  • Experience with payment orchestration platforms such as PIQ.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the company's global payments strategy.
  • Oversee the end-to-end payments infrastructure across multiple markets.
  • Expand local payment method coverage across key regions including LATAM, APAC, MENA, and Europe.
  • Ensure high payment availability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage foreign exchange exposure, settlement processes, and treasury flows in collaboration with Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements alongside Legal and Compliance teams.
  • Manage relationships with payment service providers, card acquirers, and alternative payment providers.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing, and service levels.
  • Oversee PSP onboarding, integration, and ongoing performance.
  • Optimise payment routing, approval rates, redundancy, and transaction success.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Payments team.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and Finance to improve payment performance and customer experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across payment operations.
  • Present payment performance, KPIs, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
