About The Position

Nordic Knots, a Swedish design house, is seeking its first Head of Marketing for the US market, based in New York. This role is crucial for translating the Scandinavian brand into a distinct American presence across various platforms including photoshoots, showrooms, events, print, podcasts, and key partnerships. The Head of Marketing US will be the most senior marketer in the largest market, working closely with a Stockholm-based team while leading US-specific initiatives.

Requirements

  • Eight to twelve years of experience building brands, preferably within the lifestyle, design, furniture, fashion, or hospitality sectors.
  • Proven experience scaling an events program with demonstrable successes.
  • Experience closing senior partnerships requiring negotiation with agents, publicists, or hotel GMs.
  • Experience negotiating print campaigns and running audio partnerships.
  • Ability to differentiate between execution and strategy, and proficiency in both.
  • A strong network in New York, including editors, designers, producers, agencies, venues, and tastemakers.
  • Familiarity with Los Angeles.
  • Possession of taste and a clear point of view on brand memorability.
  • Comfort being the sole marketer in a room initially.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones with a headquarters team while maintaining judgment and trust.
  • A genuine care for the work.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the annual US marketing calendar, defining activities, target audiences, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and execute a US events program, including intimate designer dinners, showroom evenings, and major activations during Design Weeks in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.
  • Manage the US print advertising calendar across shelter, design, and lifestyle publications.
  • Build and manage a podcast partnership program.
  • Oversee collaborations through newsletters, Substacks, and bespoke editorial content.
  • Negotiate media and partnership deals and manage the associated budget.
  • Identify and secure flagship partnerships, such as celebrity campaigns, hotel residencies, members-club collaborations, and cultural partnerships.
  • Oversee US photoshoots produced with freelance creatives when Stockholm-based creatives cannot travel, ensuring brand consistency on set.
  • Protect the brand's image and make real-time decisions during US shoots.
