About The Position

Nordic Knots, a Swedish design house specializing in rugs and home goods, is seeking its first Head of Marketing for the US market, based in New York. This role is crucial for translating the Scandinavian brand identity into a distinct American presence across various platforms including photoshoots, showrooms, events, print media, and podcasts. The Head of Marketing US will be the most senior marketer in the largest market, working closely with a Brand Director, creative team, Communications Director, PR Manager, and community specialist based in Stockholm. The position requires a leader who can drive brand strategy and execution in the US.

Requirements

  • Eight to twelve years of experience in brand building, preferably within lifestyle, design, furniture, fashion, or hospitality industries.
  • Proven experience scaling an events program with demonstrable successes.
  • Experience closing senior partnerships requiring negotiation with agents, publicists, or hotel GMs.
  • Experience negotiating print campaigns and managing audio partnerships.
  • Ability to differentiate between execution and strategy, with proficiency in both.
  • A strong network in New York, including editors, designers, producers, agencies, venues, and tastemakers.
  • Familiarity with Los Angeles market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated taste and a clear point of view on brand building.
  • Comfort working independently as the sole marketer in the US for a period.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across time zones with a headquarters team.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to maintain trust with remote teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the annual US marketing calendar, defining activities, target audiences, and strategic objectives.
  • Plan and execute events and activations, from intimate designer dinners and showroom evenings to major events during Design Weeks in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.
  • Manage the US print advertising calendar across relevant publications and develop a podcast partnership program.
  • Oversee media collaborations, including newsletters, Substacks, and bespoke editorial partnerships.
  • Lead flagship partnerships, including celebrity campaigns, hotel residencies, members-club collaborations, and cultural partnerships.
  • Oversee US photoshoots produced with freelance creatives, ensuring brand consistency and making on-set decisions.
  • Negotiate media deals and manage the marketing budget for the US market.
