About the position
The job overview for this position is that the company is seeking an experienced leader for their Developer Relations and Community team. As the Head of DevRel & Community, the individual will be responsible for producing high-quality content, planning and executing large-scale conferences, and supporting the Postman community. The primary goal of this role is to empower users to effectively utilize Postman for their API work through compelling content, engaging events, and active community support. This is a hybrid position based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team in producing high-quality content, including how-to blogs and videos, to help users understand how to better get their API work done in Postman, ensuring it resonates with audiences.
- Plan and execute an annual large-scale conference, collaborating with the team to develop a compelling and engaging event experience for users, focused on educating users and helping them solve problems with Postman.
- Manage a team that actively engages with users in community forums and social media channels to answer questions, provide solutions, and help users overcome challenges.
- Act as a representative of the company in other community discussion forums and events, participating in conversations and driving engagement around the product.
- Perform strategic planning, developing and executing plans that align with business objectives, utilizing insights gained from content performance, event feedback, and community interactions.
- Continuously refine and enhance the team's strategies and initiatives to foster growth, user satisfaction, and brand loyalty.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional development among team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in developer relations, community management, or related roles
- Strong background in producing product-related content, such as how-to blogs and videos
- Familiarity with content metrics and analytics to assess performance and optimize content strategies
- Proficiency in planning and executing large-scale conferences or events
- Experience in creating impactful event experiences that cater to various user levels and interests
- Demonstrated ability to engage with users in community forums and social media channels, providing timely and effective support
- Experience participating in and representing a company in community discussion forums and events
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills to develop and implement plans that align with business goals
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
