About The Position

Semtech is undergoing a company-wide transformation to evolve from a product-centric operator into a customer-centric, demand-generating growth company. The Head of Communications will establish Semtech's communications function from the ground up. This role is responsible for the executive platforms of the CEO and CCO, ensuring message discipline across the company's brand, leading narrative repositioning efforts, and shaping the internal narrative to guide employees through the transformation. It is a hands-on, player-coach position with a direct reporting line to the CEO and CCO, and an enterprise-wide mandate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate and executive communications.
  • At least 5 years leading a communications function or a major enterprise communications program.
  • Proven experience as trusted communications counsel and principal writer to a CEO or C-suite executive at a publicly traded company.
  • Track record leading communications through a rebrand, repositioning, merger, integration, or major business transformation.
  • Hands-on experience with the earnings cycle, including narrative development, prepared remarks, and executive preparation, in partnership with a CFO and Investor Relations.
  • Working knowledge of public-company communications, including Regulation FD, quiet periods, and disclosure controls.
  • Exceptional writing skills across executive forms such as speeches, earnings talk tracks, bylines, and all-hands content, with a portfolio to demonstrate.
  • Experience owning internal communications through significant organizational change, with measured impact on employee understanding and alignment.
  • Credibility with C-suite and board-level stakeholders; proven ability to drive results through influence in a matrix organization without direct authority.
  • Highest standards of discretion and confidentiality; calm and decisive under pressure, including in issues and crisis situations.

  • Experience in semiconductor, hardware, or complex B2B technology environments; ability to engage credibly with engineers, business unit leaders, customers, and industry analysts.
  • Hands-on leadership of a multi-phase brand or narrative transformation in partnership with external brand and strategic communications firms.
  • Experience supporting investor days, sell-side interactions, and industry-analyst programs.
  • Global communications experience across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, working with both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Fluency in modern communications measurement (message pull-through, share of voice, employee sentiment) and comfort using AI-enabled tools to enhance the speed and quality of communications work.

Responsibilities

  • Own executive communications for the CEO and CCO, including earnings narratives, prepared remarks, investor and board messaging, and all-hands content, establishing a single owner and a defined preparation cadence.
  • Build and maintain the messaging architecture that aligns all business unit, product, and regional stories into a cohesive Semtech narrative. Lead message discipline for Project Amplify (brand and narrative repositioning) across sales, marketing, web, PR, and internal channels.
  • Establish internal communications as a function, defining cadence, channels, leader toolkits, and feedback loops to ensure employees understand company strategy and their contribution to it.
  • Launch and manage an executive thought-leadership program, including keynotes, bylines, industry-analyst briefings, and executive digital presence, to position Semtech's leaders as market authorities.
  • Develop trusted cross-functional relationships with departments such as Sales, Marketing, Investor Relations, People/HR, Legal, and Business Units. Build the communications team and agency model over time.
  • Develop and maintain issues and crisis communications playbooks, including a trained executive team and a clear spokesperson protocol.

Benefits

  • A reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $230,000.
  • There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
