Under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for the supervision of lifeguards and their duties, assisting in the support and enforcement of rules and regulations, ensuring the safety of patrons in and around the pool, and maintaining indoor/outdoor pool facilities. This role ensures all lifeguards are competent in performing water rescue procedures and assists in the training, scheduling, and appraisal of lifeguards. The position involves performing duties necessary for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment by taking pool chemical readings and adjusting chemical levels when necessary. Responsibilities include writing monthly schedules for lifeguards, supervising daily activities of lifeguards, finding replacements for absent guards, monitoring guard numbers and positions, and ensuring the use of safety equipment and professionalism of the guard staff. The Head Lifeguard is also responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the pool deck, locker rooms, and restrooms of both indoor and outdoor pools, testing and maintaining primary pool chemicals, and ensuring the facility and pool water are clean. Maintaining rescue skills at audit quality levels and keeping physically fit are also key aspects of the role.
