About The Position

The Head Girls Volleyball Coach is responsible for instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. This role also emphasizes the development of Christian moral values, a sense of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-control. The coach will oversee the program for all eligible athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Director. The success of athletic programs significantly influences the school community's image, and while public exposure and pressure for winning are considerable, they must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and character development. The position involves extended time commitments and a risk of injury. Coaches are expected to exercise common sense and Godly judgment in situations not specifically covered by this description.

Requirements

  • Previous successful coaching experience in assigned position at the high or college school level.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the program and a commitment to examining new theories and procedures.
  • Strong Christian faith exhibited through personal devotion, worship, and prayer life.
  • Commitment to studying God’s Word fervently.
  • Display application of biblical truths.
  • Maintain a commitment to the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrate a living, growing faith in Jesus Christ and be a spiritual role model for students.
  • Filter instruction through a biblical worldview and integrate faith and learning.
  • Possess strong organization and communication skills.
  • Strong positive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, approachable, respectful demeanor.
  • High level of integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred.
  • Maintains Continuing Education Requirement for MSHSL.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
  • Develop Christian moral values, a sense of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-control in athletes.
  • Oversee the volleyball program for all eligible athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
  • Ensure good sportsmanship and character development are prioritized over winning.
  • Send information/correspondence to players/parents as needed.
  • Conduct orientation programs for athletes and coaches.
  • Assume responsibility for schedule development or schedule verification.
  • Conduct weekly devotions while in season.
  • Complete administrative duties.
  • Follow and complete the pre-season and post-season checklist.
  • Work with the Athletic Director on ordering needed equipment.
  • Work with the Athletic Department to manage travel arrangements.
  • Oversee coaching staff across middle and high school levels.
  • Ensure compliance with submission of all forms and fees/deposits required by athletes.
  • Develop and maintain team rosters.
  • Monitor athlete attendance/behavior/academic status.
  • Prepare and administer season-ending program.
  • Forecast annual program needs.
  • Oversee the middle school coaching staff and assist with team placement.
  • Develop core values.
  • Create and share a purpose statement with players and parents.
  • Develop a Game Plan and Spiritual Development Plan as part of Coaching for Transformation.
  • Provide appropriate skill development training.
  • Provide appropriate positive motivation.
  • Coordinate offseason skill development.
  • Collaborate with the strength and conditioning coach for in-season and off-season plans.
