About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the cleaning, maintenance, and general upkeep of school facilities. The Head Custodian I ensures that the school environment is safe, clean, and conducive to learning. This role involves supervising custodial staff, managing supplies, and performing hands-on cleaning duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory experience.
Experience in a school or institutional setting.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
Clean restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
Ensure the security of the building by locking doors and windows.
Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
Supervise and direct the work of other custodial staff.
Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and order replacements as needed.
Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
