About The Position

The Head Coach, eSports will be responsible for facilitating the academic, athletic and overall growth of eSports student athletes, under the direct guidance of the Athletic Director. Additionally, this individual will work with the Athletic Director to continually assess and elevate the program’s status in the areas of academics, recruiting, budget, tracking, and reporting, equipment ordering, marketing, public relations, departmental compliance and facility management.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, faculty, and students.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and teaches the game of eSports
  • Schedules and runs organized practices
  • Works alongside the Athletic Director to schedule games
  • Hires an assistant coach that has knowledge of the game and is responsible for duties as assigned by the head coach
  • Recruits student athletes from Clark, Champaign, Greene and Logan counties as well as surrounding counties and the state of Ohio
  • Maintains knowledge of the governing bylaws, constitution and rules of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, OCCAC and the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association, NJCAAE
  • Manages the travel, supply, scholarship and equipment budget
  • Conducts fundraising activities, community service, camps and clinics for the eSports team
  • Transports team to away games using college vans
  • Provides student athletes assistance for moving on to the next level of competition and/or education
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor

  • Total stipend of $8,000 (intended to support head coach and any assistant coach roles)
