About The Position

The Head Coach - Baseball position is responsible for leading the baseball program at Cheyenne Elementary. This role involves coaching, managing team activities, and ensuring adherence to school district and AIA rules. The coach will also be responsible for team building, fundraising, and potentially traveling for competitions.

Requirements

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion of a sport-specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
  • Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for baseball.
  • Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District #11.
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a baseball coach at the youth or school level.
  • Experience with online sports platforms like MaxPreps and HUDL.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the baseball program at Cheyenne Elementary.
  • Coach and instruct student-athletes in essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for baseball.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the athletic department.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the AIA and Peoria Unified School District #11.
  • Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
  • Manage team activities, including scheduling, practice planning, and game management.
  • Foster a sense of camaraderie among players through teambuilding activities, fundraising, and service projects.
  • Utilize online platforms required for specific sports, such as MaxPreps and HUDL.
  • Potentially travel to perform work functions, including driving students to and from competitions.
  • Ensure student-athletes maintain academic eligibility as required.
