About The Position

This position is for a Head Coach for Baseball/Softball at Sunset Heights Elementary School in Peoria, AZ. The role involves coaching, managing team activities, and ensuring adherence to district and AIA rules. The position is compensated via a stipend and is open until filled.

Requirements

Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports ï¿½ What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion of a sport-specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport to be coached.
Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA (www.aiaonline.org) and Peoria Unified School District #11.
Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

Responsibilities

Coach baseball/softball, imparting essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including players, parents, and school administration.
Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the AIA and Peoria Unified School District.
Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
Utilize online platforms required for specific sports, such as MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
Establish a sense of camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
Potentially drive students to and from competitions.
Perform work functions outside of normal working hours as needed.
Travel to perform work functions as needed.
