About The Position

The Onalaska High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our high school baseball program as the Head Baseball Coach. This seasonal position will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the field, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baseball, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the academic and athletic success of our student-athletes.

Requirements

Previous coaching experience at the high school level or equivalent experience in baseball.
Strong knowledge of the game of baseball, including strategies, techniques, and rules.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to transport student-athletes as needed.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and training programs that enhance player performance and skill development.
Organize and conduct team practices, games, and competitions throughout the season.
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
Monitor and support the academic performance of student-athletes, ensuring they meet eligibility requirements.
Collaborate with the athletic director and other coaches to promote the baseball program and enhance overall athletic offerings at Onalaska High School.
Plan and oversee fundraising activities and community engagement initiatives to support the baseball program.
Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations and policies.
Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to foster individual improvement.
Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe and organized environment for practices and games.
