About The Position

This role focuses on analyzing payroll transactions and results to ensure accuracy and compliance. The analyst will research and resolve payroll discrepancies, perform reconciliations, and audit payroll processes. A key part of the role involves system testing, including developing and executing test scenarios, validating calculations, and documenting findings. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing reports, analyzing data, and identifying trends. Additionally, the position involves documenting procedures, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and supporting the implementation of new payroll processes and technologies. Collaboration with various departments and providing customer service for payroll-related inquiries are also essential functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of professional experience in payroll, human resources, accounting, finance, business operations, or systems analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze payroll transactions and results to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, exceptions, and complex pay issues.
  • Perform reconciliations of payroll-related data and financial transactions.
  • Audit payroll processes and records to identify and correct errors.
  • Support payroll processing activities during peak periods and critical payroll cycles.
  • Develop and execute payroll test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Validate payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, leave accruals, and retroactive adjustments.
  • Analyze test results and document findings, defects, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with functional and technical partners to track and resolve system issues.
  • Participate in unit testing, integration testing, parallel testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare payroll reports, data analyses, and operational metrics.
  • Review data quality and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and audit requests.
  • Support payroll balancing and reconciliation activities.
  • Document payroll procedures, workflows, and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
  • Assist with implementation of new payroll processes and technologies.
  • Support change management, knowledge transfer, and end-user training activities.
  • Serve as a resource to payroll staff and campus partners regarding payroll processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, and Information Technology teams.
  • Provide professional customer service while resolving payroll-related inquiries.
