About The Position

The Harvest Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of a single-shift beef harvest process including, but not limited to Budgets, Animal Welfare, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, QSA, BRC, Production Yields (Carcass & Offal), Staffing, and employee Safety. The Harvest Manager will lead a team that consists of a three Supervisors – all of which provide leadership, direction and supervision for a staff of approximately 140 employees. The Harvest Manager reports to the Director of Operations on a daily basis and participates in weekly production meetings. The Harvest Manager maintains an active rapport with USDA inspectors while implementing a proactive approach to regulatory issues. Harvest Manager will be responsible for enhancement of KPIs, setting goals and delegating responsibility to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years management/supervision experience in beef harvest (hide-on & hide-off) and all appropriate equipment.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of process improvements and technical developments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Provides guidance and direction to staff to assure understanding, training and implementation of company policies.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability.
  • Sets team performance standards providing coaching and feedback to build effective staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day harvest floor operations to assure process productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor and oversee harvest process to assure supervision is implanting company policies and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Comprehend and implement all aspects of union contract.
  • Provide feedback to Maintenance and Engineering regarding condition of equipment.
  • Monitor yields (carcass & offal) and oversee adherence to production standards.
  • Manage employee training, pay schedules and discipline.
  • Implement department budget and identify cost-saving strategies.
  • Assure implementation of company’s HACCP, SSOP, GMP, BRC, Animal Welfare and QSA programs.
