Harness Manufacturing Engineer

EnduroSat•Los Angeles, CA
•$100,000 - $135,000

About The Position

EnduroSat is seeking a Harness Manufacturing Engineer to support the design and documentation of electrical wiring harnesses for satellite systems. Working closely with senior engineers, the engineer will create accurate schematics, electrical drawings, and harness specifications, and contribute to the design, integration, and validation of 2D harness schematics and drawings. The role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in electrical interconnection design, standards compliance, and spacecraft systems integration under the mentorship of experienced wiring harness design engineers. The position involves producing and updating eCAD diagrams and harness documentation, designing layouts with accurate connector pinouts, cable specifications, and signal routing, and supporting PCB design and documentation according to IPC and ECSS standards. The engineer will collaborate with system and mechanical teams, participate in design reviews and validation, assist with harness assembly and troubleshooting, and support electrical testing. EnduroSat describes its environment as fast-paced and delivery-focused, with hands-on learning, mentorship, challenging R&D, career development, and opportunities to participate in its Space Educational Program.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field; recent graduates are welcome if they have internship or hands-on experience.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in eCAD design, electrical schematic design using KiCAD or Altium, or harness design software within aerospace, automotive, or another electromechanical industry.
  • Practical experience with PCB design fundamentals and connector selection for electronic systems.
  • Hands-on experience using a multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, and basic electrical testing.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, including Ohm's law, series and parallel connections, power loss and consumption, and CAN, RS-485, and RS-422 communications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across engineering teams.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop technical skills, and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zuken E3, ePlan, RapidHarness, Capital, Arcadia, or other eCAD software.
  • Experience designing, assembling, testing, integrating, and documenting wiring harness projects, including creating Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Background in satellite or aerospace electrical systems design.
  • A portfolio or examples of technical drawings and schematics created.
  • Schematics created for personal projects in Altium or KiCAD.
  • Previous contributions to aerospace projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update eCAD schematic diagrams and electrical harness drawing documentation using industry-standard tools.
  • Design wiring harness layouts with accurate connector pinouts, cable specifications, and signal routing.
  • Support PCB design activities, including connector selection and preparation of technical schematics and documentation following IPC and ECSS standards.
  • Collaborate with system and mechanical teams to ensure design requirements are defined and followed.
  • Perform design reviews and support design validation activities.
  • Assist with assembling wiring harnesses based on predesigned harness drawings.
  • Troubleshoot assembled wiring harnesses by finding the root cause of issues.
  • Learn and apply electrical wiring harness best practices and satellite electrical architecture principles.
  • Support testing activities, including pinout verification with multimeters, signal measurement with oscilloscopes, and power-supply load tests.

Benefits

  • Hands-on learning and mentorship alongside experienced space professionals.
  • Career progression framework with structured career development and continuous learning opportunities.
