The role leads development of complex iPhone SoC and system validation strategies and advanced debugging, with influence spanning architecture definition through mass production. It contributes directly to SoC system design and quality to deliver solutions that support iPhone’s overall success. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities for domestic and international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience in system-level SoC bring-up, validation, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of SoC architecture, including ARM-based systems, hardware/software interaction, boot flows, and low-level debug techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters, and thermal chambers.
  • Proficiency in Python, TCL, or similar scripting and programming languages for test-plan development, test automation, and data analysis.
  • Self-motivated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including experience working across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience with kernel- and device-driver-level debugging using relevant debug and validation tools.
  • Strong familiarity with mobile hardware platform design, including power delivery systems (PDN, PMIC) and high-speed, low-speed, and debug interfaces such as USB, MIPI, UART, and JTAG.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation testing infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level SoC bring-up, functional validation, and stress testing on iPhone hardware platforms from early prototypes through mass production.
  • Perform hardware/software debugging and root-cause analysis to resolve complex silicon and system issues.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive SoC system validation plans using knowledge of SoC architecture, feature definition, and system design.
  • Analyze factory and validation data to identify and resolve silicon and system issues, informing design and system optimization.
  • Drive power, performance, and thermal characterization and optimization.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional hardware, software, and silicon teams to define validation strategies and meet product milestones.
