About The Position

As a Hardware Validation Engineer on the iPhone System EE team, you will plan, execute, and track electrical validation from the first prototype through product launch. You will work closely with the System EE team and lead the contract manufacturing (CM) EE team to deliver high-quality products. The role includes driving next-generation iPhone hardware development from early concept through mass production, with a focus on system characterization, signal integrity (SI), and power integrity (PI). You will identify issues arising from system integration and help drive solutions, while managing validation priorities, project risks, and critical-path tasks across multiple engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes and probes, including best practices for test setup and signal measurement and the reasons behind them.
  • Experience with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, MIPI, PCIe, or DisplayPort (DP), and experience with DC-DC power electronics.
  • Interest in hands-on validation and interpersonal communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in the consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong electrical and system engineering fundamentals; experience with computers, mobile phones, or other embedded systems is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for shipping high-volume, high-quality products.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming capability using Python, C, Lua, Matlab, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute system characterization, including signal-integrity and power-integrity validation.
  • Identify SI/PI issues at board and system level and drive solutions.
  • Lead the CM hardware validation team on the ground and review its deliverables daily.
  • Communicate validation progress and status with US Validation Engineers and Hardware Leads to prioritize tasks and identify and mitigate technical risks.
  • Build relationships with development teams in the US and China and incorporate their feedback into daily validation tasks.
  • Invent and implement improvements to validation tools and processes.
  • Track electrical validation from the first prototype through launch and help keep each validation cycle on its critical path.
