About The Position

This internship offers the opportunity to be part of a team that gets things done, works with purpose, and takes pride in the results. The intern will assist in designing industrial automation hardware schematics, create hardware layouts, wiring drawings, and bills of materials. They will collaborate with various teams to ensure successful project execution and production handoff, develop and execute hardware documentation and quality verification processes, and troubleshoot hardware-related issues. The role also involves ensuring hardware designs comply with industry standards and supporting the implementation of industrial networking and communication systems, with potential for occasional startup and commissioning activities at customer sites. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other disciplines.
  • Ability to work in our Eagan, MN location 5 days/week.
  • Ability to report progress daily to the leadership team, to ensure intern tasks and projects are completed on time.
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Willing to work on some out-of-town projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in designing industrial automation hardware schematics that meet customer requirements.
  • Create hardware layouts, wiring drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with software, controls, manufacturing, and panel shop teams to ensure successful project execution and production handoff.
  • Develop and execute hardware documentation and quality verification processes prior to production release.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues during development, manufacturing, and startup phases.
  • Ensure hardware designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, including UL508A standards.
  • Support the implementation of industrial networking and communication systems.
  • Support occasional startup and commissioning activities at customer sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
