About The Position

Packet Digital is seeking an Electrical Engineering student for a Hardware Engineering Intern position. This role offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, developing electronic systems for applications including drones, satellites, aerospace platforms, and other advanced technologies. The internship provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges and learn the complete hardware development process, from concept and design to testing and production. The ideal candidate is curious, motivated, and eager to grow technical skills in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and circuit theory.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers through coursework, projects, or labs.
  • Exposure to schematic capture or PCB design tools.
  • Interest in communication protocols such as USB, CAN, UART, SPI, or I2C.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn new technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience through engineering coursework, laboratory work, student organizations, or previous internships.
  • Exposure to batteries, power electronics, energy systems, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Interest in aerospace, unmanned systems, drones, or satellite technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gathering and understanding project requirements.
  • Research electronic components, circuits, and emerging technologies.
  • Support circuit design, simulation, and validation activities.
  • Learn how engineering projects are planned, scheduled, and executed.
  • Support schematic capture and PCB layout activities.
  • Assist with bill of materials (BOM) creation and maintenance.
  • Help document assembly instructions and engineering changes.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Assist with board assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Learn to use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters.
  • Support prototype validation and debugging efforts.
  • Gain exposure to hardware verification and test methodologies.
  • Work alongside engineers from multiple disciplines.
  • Participate in team meetings and project discussions.
  • Help maintain an organized and efficient lab environment.
  • Share ideas, ask questions, and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
