About The Position

Boston Scientific is seeking an R&D Hardware Engineer Intern to join the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. This role focuses on designing and developing implant products for technologies that monitor, diagnose, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. The AIS division aims to innovate and create paradigm shifts to solve unmet clinical needs and improve patient outcomes. This is an onsite role requiring employees to be in the local office at least five days per week. Relocation and housing assistance may be available. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (grad date by May 2028)
  • Prior Boston Scientific internship with AIS R&D department
  • Must be able to start internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Experience with testing-related projects in school or work

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of implantable cardiac devices
  • Conduct testing and validation activities to assess device performance, reliability, and safety
  • Apply basic statistical and data analytics techniques to interpret test results and guide design decisions
  • Utilize LabVIEW for instrumentation control, data acquisition, and automated testing workflows
  • Use Python to support data analysis, modeling, or process automation in R&D projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure device functionality aligns with clinical and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to innovation efforts that address unmet clinical needs across the continuum of cardiac care
