About The Position

The Hard Lines Merchandising Specialist sorts and processes hardline donations, separates sellable merchandise from outlet product, researches item values, and prices merchandise according to Goodwill Houston (GWH) guidelines. The role supports the efficient and cost-effective stewardship of donations to maximize profitability in support of GWH’s mission. The specialist performs assigned duties in accordance with GWH policies, procedures, and guiding principles. The position involves customer service, donation processing, merchandise production and rotation, and support of store operations. The specialist helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and may assist with merchandising, loading and unloading, floor recovery, and janitorial tasks. The role requires working quickly to meet production standards, adapting to a fast-paced team environment, and maintaining dependable attendance and a professional, friendly manner.

Requirements

Ability to perform basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Retail sales experience.

Responsibilities

Research merchandise value using current GWH baseline pricing guides or the internet, and price items accordingly.
Keep abreast of industry trends, merchandising, and competitive pricing.
Provide excellent customer service, greet customers, and assist with basic questions about store operations and merchandise.
Work quickly to meet required GWH production standards and ensure product is continually rotated.
Assist with keeping production supplies available.
Assist in merchandising produced goods on the sales floor according to guidelines.
Assist with loading and unloading merchandise as needed.
Receive and record donations as needed.
Assist with sorting donations according to GWH guidelines as assigned.
Notify the manager of low or overstocked merchandise.
Assist with the security and safety of GWH team members and property.
Assist with floor recovery as needed and perform necessary janitorial work.
Report all work incidents and injuries immediately.
Follow GWH policies and procedures, loss prevention and safety regulations, guiding principles, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, keep aisles and pathways to fire exits clear, and uphold housekeeping standards.
Complete assigned duties and other duties as assigned by management.
