About The Position

The Handyperson monitors the building and grounds to maintain a neat, clean presentation and environment. The role performs routine maintenance and repairs, groundskeeping, waste removal, and upkeep of tools and equipment. It also includes securing the building after jobs, reporting repair needs and security violations, responding promptly to emergencies and environmental hazards, and performing on-call duties as required or assigned. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and performing medium to heavy physical work, including lifting up to 100 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
One to two years of experience in maintenance and/or construction supervision is ideal.
Basic knowledge of janitorial procedures.
Ability to interact with residents and handle complaints with reasonable discretion.
Ability to use hand tools normally used in maintenance, landscaping, and construction.
Ability to use power tools and equipment, including a circular saw, power drill, bench grinder, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, power floor cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, power drain cleaner, chain saw, and key machine.
ALC lead paint certification.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
Ability to perform medium to heavy work involving prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Good eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

Monitor the building and grounds to ensure a neat and clean presentation and environment.
Complete minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
Follow written and verbal instructions.
Ensure supplies are stored in appropriate areas.
Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming shrubbery, cultivating flower beds, and removing snow, ice, and debris.
Remove trash and dispose of it in designated areas.
Maintain tools and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
Ensure the building is secure during and after completed jobs and report security violations to management.
Report the need for major repairs to the supervisor.
Report and repair emergency maintenance problems and environmental hazards immediately.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety procedures.
Perform emergency on-call duties as required or assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
