About The Position

Join us and make your mark – where excellence meets purpose, and great minds truly matter. Provide general mechanical engineering support for the design of elements installed in experimental Hall C. Utilize 3D computer aided design (CAD) tools for component and assembly design as a precursor to analyses and fabrication. Provide engineering support for projects from concept through design, fabrication, assembly and commissioning. Present technical reports, defend the design during design or safety reviews and produce system documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree In area of Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group.
  • Can work effectively with peers.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of experience
  • Familiarity with basic metal fabrication and welding techniques

Responsibilities

  • Perform as the design engineer on components and systems employed in Experimental Hall C.
  • Analyze structural and thermal aspects of designs using engineering calculations and FEA tools.
  • Work with more senior engineers and scientists in defining requirements, designing, analyzing, fabricating, installing, testing and commissioning components or systems.
  • Support procurement and fabrication of components and assemblies.
  • Document work in analysis reports, test reports, and technical notes.
  • Present results at internal reviews and appropriate technical conferences.
  • Develop and perform test methodologies to validate designs.
  • May lead technical staff of designers or technicians.
