About The Position

Seeking an I&C Engineer to support our client in Idaho Falls, ID. The Contractor will apply engineering knowledge, practice and techniques to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment required to monitor and control engineering systems found in nuclear facilities. This includes the application of engineering principles and data analytics to monitor and evaluate the condition and operational performance of I&C systems to ensure they function in a safe, reliable, efficient, and predictable manner. Responsibilities include defining requirements and developing design concepts by communicating with the customer to understand their needs and identify design goals. The role involves creating engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and implementation documents to meet customer design inputs. Ensuring calculations and evaluations meet design requirements are adequately completed and documented, either by self-performing in areas of expertise or providing oversight to others outside of the area of expertise, is crucial. Implementation of designs involves supporting the procurement of materials, equipment, and services, reviewing and approving work packages, and following construction activities. Verification of design and implementation is achieved by presenting and/or participating in design reviews. The role also includes developing and executing qualification/startup testing procedures for assigned systems and projects, and following assigned systems through their equipment life, implementing appropriate maintenance and modifications to ensure system operational readiness. Verifying and maintaining the technical content of System Configuration information to be accurate and adequate, including verifying consistency between design requirements, physical configuration, and System Configuration information documentation, is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Experienced Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to provide design and system engineering for advanced micro reactors.
  • Ability to design, analyze and evaluate systems.
  • Ability to communicate with operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance, and programmatic personnel both verbally and through written means.
  • Ability to identify and execute engineering work tasks such as design efforts, maintenance activities and operating written instructions.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead engineering work.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the Materials and Fuels Complex.
  • Degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Bachelor of Science in I&C Engineering OR Other engineering related field with minimum of 5 years of experience OR Master of Science Degree in I&C Engineering OR Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • US Citizenship is required to perform this contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design and installation of nuclear reactor instruments and controls systems.
